Bio
Dr. Tierney S. Grosskopf, M.D. will be joined Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin in September 2025. She is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and is fellowship-trained in Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity. While she provides complete comprehensive care to injuries and conditions of the hand and upper extremity, she has a special interest in peripheral nerve surgery, Dupuytren’s contracture, and sports-related injuries of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Dr. Grosskopf is committed to restoring function and improving quality of life for her patients through meticulous surgical care and thoughtful non-operative management. She welcomes adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of upper extremity conditions, from complex nerve injuries to tendon disorders and traumatic sports injuries.
Dr. Grosskopf brings a unique perspective shaped by nearly a decade of military service. As a Major in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, she served as an attending orthopedic surgeon at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany—the largest American military hospital outside the U.S.—where she provided surgical care to wounded service members, coalition forces, and civilians from across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. She also participated in humanitarian and global health missions in Morocco and El Salvador, and played a key clinical role during the evacuation of Afghan refugees in 2021.
Dr. Grosskopf earned her Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. She received her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed her five-year orthopedic surgery residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. During her residency, she served as academic chief resident and was selected as an Emerging Leader through the American Orthopedic Association. After serving as a general orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, she proceeded to advance her education and completed her fellowship at the University of Chicago Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship program in Chicago, IL.
She is married to a Wisconsin native, and enjoys outdoor pursuits in her free time.
