Ann Porretto-Loehrke, PT, DPT, CHT, COMT

Bio

Ann Porretto-Loehrke  is the therapy manager at the Hand and Shoulder Center of Wisconsin. She graduated from Marquette University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and then obtained a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Drexel University in 2007. Ann is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist who specializes in upper extremity disorders that include the shoulder. She has a passion for teaching and enjoys presenting continuing education courses to hand therapists around the country. In addition, Ann co-authored a chapter in Rehabilitation of the Hand and Shoulder on nerve compression syndromes. Ann enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and loves canoeing, kayaking, and backpacking.

Cassandra Schuh, OTR, CHT, COMT

Bio

Cassandra (Cassie) Schuh is a 2010 graduate from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Cassie holds certifications in Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT – Big Version) and a Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM). Cassie received her Hand Therapy Certification in 2016. She is a Wisconsin native and comes to us with a vast array of experience. Her special interests include the treatment of upper extremity orthopedic injuries and diseases, fibromyalgia, functional capacity evaluations, and hands-on manual therapy treatment. She joins a large team of subspecialty therapists exclusively treating all fingers, hands, wrist, forearm, elbow and shoulder injuries and conditions.

In her spare time Cassie enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, volunteering in her community as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), fishing, hunting, cooking and gardening.

Christine Jesko, OTR, CHT

Bio

Christine Jesko is a 2002 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. As an Occupational Therapist and one of 15 Certified Hand Therapists, Christine has a special interest in the use of evidence based manual therapy and therapeutic taping techniques for addressing pain and dysfunction of the finger, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow and shoulder. Additionally she stresses a combined approach of clear communication and teamwork with her patients for optimal health outcomes. “I believe that knowledge and passion are the keys to being an effective therapist”.

Connie Simon, OTR, CHT

Bio

Connie Simon is a 1985 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Her professional interests have been in the application of myofascial release for the treatment of upper extremity pain, wound care, and splinting. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, sons, family and friends, gardening, interior decorating, health and wellness, and good music.

Donna Nennig, OTR, CHT

Bio

Donna Nennig is a 1989 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She received her Hand Therapy Certification in 2008. Donna has worked for the Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin  since 1993. She performed her clinical programs in Boston Massachusetts in psych disabilities and her physical disabilities clinical at St Joseph’s hospital in Arizona. Areas of clinical interest at our orthopedic rehabilitation  facility include custom splinting, trauma and postoperative care.

Holly Renard, OTR, CHT

Bio

Holly Renard is a 1992 graduate from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Previously, Holly enjoyed participating as a co-author to the Fourth Edition of The Indiana Hand Center’s Diagnosis & Treatment Manual for Physicians and Therapists. Holly obtained her Hand Therapy Certification (CHT) in 1998 and has been with the Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin orthopedic rehabilitation team for 18 years. Her professional interests include: hand trauma, flexor tendon rehabilitation, custom splinting and rehabilitation/splinting for arthritis. Outside interests include photography, participating in sports and activities with her husband and 2 children, and spending time with family and her 2 golden retrievers.

J. Michelle Mueller, PT, CHT, CLT

Bio

Michelle Mueller is a 1993 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She obtained her Lymphedema Certification to treat both Lymphedema and postoperative edema in 2001 and her Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification in 2015. Areas of professional interest and specialization include thumb, wrist and shoulder rehabilitation, postoperative swelling (edema), Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and ergonomics. She thrives on developing a personal relationship with her patients and helping them reach their fullest potential. Areas of personal interest include hiking, biking, working out, interior decorating, cooking, waterskiing, gardening and especially her family and friends.

JoAnn Shropshire, OTR, CHT

Bio

JoAnn Shropshire is a 1981 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She received her Hand Therapy Certification in 1991. JoAnn has worked primarily with hands since the onset of the Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin’s practice in 1987. Previous professional focus included neuro rehabilitation, arthritis and orthopedics. Current interests include trauma, wound care, arthritis, splinting and tennis elbow. Personal interests include home remodeling and decorating, Habitat for Humanity, gardening, musical concerts and time with friends and family.

Joe Theisen, PT

Bio

Joseph Theisen is a 1979 graduate from Northwestern University with a Certificate of Physical Therapy, and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, with a minor in Athletic Training from Minnesota State University Mankato in 1975. Joe is also a certified Athletic Trainer. Joe specializes in upper extremity disorders that include primarily the shoulder and treatment for thoracic outlet syndrome.

Julie Strutz, OTR, CHT

Bio

Julie Strutz is a 1996 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked in the Milwaukee area in Inpatient Rehabilitation prior to moving to the Appleton area in 2001. Areas of special interest include edema (swelling) reduction techniques and custom splinting. She also specializes in upper extremity disorders including the hand, wrist and elbow. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, walking, cycling and boating.

Bio

Karen Jensen is a 1988 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. She received her Hand Therapy Certification in 1996. Bio

Karen Reindl is a 1987 graduate from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Areas of professional interest include hand trauma/wound care, custom splinting, and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. She enjoys spending time with her family engaging in outdoor activities such as water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and golfing. She also enjoys learning and speaking Spanish with her Spanish-speaking patients.

Laurie Mohr, OTR, CHT

Bio

Laurie Mohr is a 1983 graduate from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She received additional training and experience at Duke University Hospital and Luther Midelfort Hospital of the Mayo Health System. Laurie has specialized in treating hand injuries for over 20 years. She brings an eclectic approach in helping patients regain hand and arm function maximizing their quality of life. Laurie is an energetic therapist whose passion motivates her patients toward a quick recovery. In her free time, Laurie enjoys biking, golfing, cross country skiing, traveling, and spending time exploring nature with family and friends.

Laurie Petrie-Kampa, OTR, CHT

Bio

Laurie Petrie-Kampa is a graduate from University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has had extensive training in traumatic hand and burn injuries while employed with University Hospital and Clinics in Madison before becoming a staff therapist and Certified Hand Therapist at Hand and Shoulder Center of Wisconsin. Laurie has specialized training in manual therapy techniques including mobilizations and myofascial release. Special interests include treatment of nerve or shoulder injuries including thoracic outlet syndrome. Personal interests include outdoor activities such as gardening, hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, and soccer.

Maureen McGrath, OTR, CHT

Bio

Maureen McGrath is a 1982 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has been a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) since 1996. She enjoys the art of splint making, joint and soft tissue mobilization, edema (swelling) control and is comfortable with all thermal and electrical modalities. She enjoys an active lifestyle including power yoga, golf, cycling and skiing.

Nicole Salm, OTR, CHT

Bio

Nicole Salm is a 1997 graduate from Mount Mary College with a double major in Occupational Therapy and Behavioral Science. Nicole has been working at the Hand and Shoulder Center of Wisconsin for 16 years and obtained her CHT certification in 2003. Professional interests include restoring hand function after traumatic nerve and tendon injuries, fabrication of customized splints and conservative treatment of shoulder conditions. She also has professional training with soft tissue and myofascial techniques. Most recently she has assisted with designing a program for patients needing pre and post prosthetic care. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Shelly Somers, PT, DPT

Bio

Shelly Somers is a 2013 graduate from Franklin Pierce University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a 2009 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.  Areas of professional interest include upper extremity disorders, rehabilitation of the shoulder and elbow, with a special interest in manual therapy techniques.  She enjoys spending her time outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening.  She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.

Bio

Steve Huft is a 2012 graduate from the University of North Dakota with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree.  Steve is currently pursuing his Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) Certification and Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM). His special interests include upper extremity orthopedic injuries, manual therapy techniques, and functional movement rehabilitation. He enjoys spending his time with his wife, outdoors, exercise, travel and football season.

Bio

Theresa Parry is a 2012 graduate from UW-La Crosse with a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Theresa holds a Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM) and is a Certified Hand Therapist. Her special interests include the treatment of upper extremity orthopedic injuries, manual therapy techniques, and traumatic injuries. She believes that developing a personal relationship with each patient to establish focused goals is key to effective treatment.

In her spare time, Theresa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, cross country skiing, yoga, and gardening.
